Carry hope, save lives - Vestige of Hope
In the "Vestige of Hope" project, used life jackets from refugees are transformed into bags and backpacks. Each of these pieces tells a story of hope and survival. The sale of these products supports safe crossings and helps save more lives.
The Mediterranean crises are one of the greatest humanitarian challenges of our time, with thousands of people attempting to reach Europe every year through risky routes. "Vestige of Hope" focuses on the life jackets, a symbol of hope and survival, giving them a second life to respond to this crisis and offer support.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of the crossing while offering innovative solutions to support those affected. By creatively redesigning life jackets into useful everyday objects, we hope to both generate awareness and raise funds to support safe crossings.
Our approach is based on in-depth research, material studies and strategic fundraising. By combining these elements, we create a unique product that not only draws attention to the crisis but also provides direct support to those affected.
The story of Amina
Amina clung to her life jacket in the cold night,
while the small boat danced gently on the waves of the Mediterranean.
Originally from Syria, she had chosen the dangerous path in the
Hope for a new life in Europe. The vest she wore was
bright orange and stood out in the darkness. It was a
silent promise of security in an uncertain world.
The crossing was risky and the boat was overcrowded. Everyone on board had a similar story of escape and loss. Amina's vest, once part of a large stack of similar vests in a warehouse in Turkey, had become a symbol of her determination.
When the boat reached the coast of Italy, everyone on board breathed a sigh of relief. Amina knew that the journey had only just begun, but the feeling of hope she felt when wearing the vest would not leave her. Later, this life jacket would be transformed into a new product - a bag that would be carried by someone who did not know the story of her journey, but who would help support others by purchasing it.
The bag would remain a silent messenger of hope and survival for Amina and many others like her. Each time it is sold, it carries with it a story of courage and resilience that goes far beyond the material it is made of.
